Role Summary

 

As Linux Sys Admin you’ll be driven by the desire to ensure that every system and Linux hosted application is configured optimally.

You’ll know which settings and kernel components are optimal for any given purpose and working across different vendor equipment will be second nature. You’ll be confident that you can troubleshoot application problems as you have excellent experience doing just that.

Automating secure Linux OS builds will be something you are desperate to tune to the highest degree along with scripting procedures and remediating routines.

 

Specific Role Details:

 

  • Administer all components of multiple NetApp SAN clusters, including LUN creation and capacity management. Capacity currently in excess of 120TB
  • Leverage full suite of NetApp storage software tools including FlexClone, snap shot, compression and de-duplication
  • Operating systems Administration (Linux, some Cisco)
  • Plans, manages and provides infrastructure support to agreed service levels
  • In company with internal Sys Admin, administer Oracle business system host storage and infrastructure (Linux).
  • Data centre systems planning and implementation
  • Oracle/Tangasol Coherence Cache Administration.
  • Reviews support priorities and allocate / assign work as required
  • Produces configuration / installation instructions and documentation for use by Systems Engineering and Service Desk staff.
  • Change control and configuration management of systems.
  • Hardware fault diagnoses and supplier maintenance management

Candidate requirements:

 

  • Enterprise Storage (NetApp) Data ONTAP® administration. 
  • Redhat Enterprise Linux administration.
  • 24 x 7 ecommerce business infrastructure or equivalent
  • Administering heterogeneous connected computer systems predominantly Linux based
  • Underpinning server architecture for applications
  • Local/Wide Area Networks
  • Intel x86 Server Technologies

 

Ideal Skills (skills and experience that would be an advantage):

 

  • Platform Symphony Grid compute experience
  • Oracle/Tangasol Coherence cache experience 
  • Rabbit MQ or other Message Queue technology experience
  • Network, OS and Application monitoring tools.
  • Automation & configuration tools such as Puppet/Chef
  • Knowledge of pertinent security regulations such as PCI and FSA requirements.
  • A good working knowledge of spread betting would be an advantage, as would knowledge of the bookmaking industry
