Incident Analyst - London - Support Engineer, Technical Support, Incident Management, Software Development, Demonstratable ability to Code.
Responsibilities
• Owning and investigating a wide variety of issues at both an application and database level.
• Producing robust, well-written solutions for these isues.
• Deployment of fixes to both test & live environments, depending on defined Operator process.
• Effectively communicating investigation status to the Operator
• Escalating issues appropriately to ensure quick resolution
• Liaising with the development and problem mgmt teams as appropriate to resolve issues
The candidate must have
• Experience in an application support/incident mgmt role, with proven record of technical investigation
and creating solutions to problems
• A bachelor's degree (1st or 2:1) in computer science, engineering, or information systems from a well
regarded university (maths/physics also accepted if there is evidence of programming experience).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Strong fundamental programming skills (data structures, algorithms). Someone who likes tackling
problems is more important than specific languages.
• Demonstrable talent programming in at least one major language (Java, J2EE, C, C++, etc.)
• An ability to learn new technologies quickly.
The ideal candidate would also have
• Familiarity developing on Unix/Linux.
• Experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) website design
• Website development skills HTML, HTML5 and CSS
• Web technologies and internet protocols (XML, HTTP, TCP/IP)
• Experience using version control systems (Subversion, CVS, etc.)
• Scripting skills: Perl, Python, JavaScript
• ITIL experience.
