Poker Head of Online Magazine - Poker

Job Description

Our client is looking for an Online Magazine Editor to manage the company’s magazine portfolio which will include blogging, v-blogging and news reporting. You will oversee, manage and be responsible for the entire magazine’s content.

You will assist with developing and enforcing policies related to magazine’s strategy, tone of voice, editorial style, design and linking. You will work across global markets, and ensure communications are disseminated across the team. You will also be required to assist in any technical issues with the magazine content system - therefore you will need to have a high level of expertise in self-hosted blogging platforms, Movable Type preferred. The role will require a close liaison with various marketing managers with regional and product-specific responsibilities.

An understanding of blogging and reporting in a business environment is crucial, as is experience of managing a news team, most of whom will be remote. A thorough knowledge of poker, the poker industry (both on- and offline) and of our client is also required. Experience of covering poker tournaments, with the ability to raise the bar and drive the company blogs on, is essential.

International travel will be expected, as is willingness to be very flexible with working hours.

Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for the content throughout the online magazine.
• Assist with the creation and the implementation of guidelines related to content writing, picture and rich media usage, design, linking, and blog-related technologies such as RSS feeds.
• Assist with establishing, and then managing, deals with third parties interested in syndicating the company blog content (eg online magazines).
• Liaise with Web Publishing and IT for any magazine-related technical issues, and leading technical projects related to the magazine as and when necessary.
• Develop policies for reporting at live events and manage bloggers at live events.
Skills and Capabilities
• Expert-level experience of all major blogging platforms (Movable Type is preferred).
• At least 3+ years experience of blogging (from a personal or professional level).
• A high level of understanding of how blogging can benefit/affect businesses.
• Experience of editorial coverage of live poker tournaments.
• Experience of managing a team of 10+ people.
• At least 3+ years writing/editing experience in a professional environment (on- or offline).
• Familiarity with working with non-native English speakers.
• Expert-level knowledge of poker, the poker industry and of our client’s products.
• As bloggers are located across the globe and events often take place late at night and at weekends, a flexible approach to working hours is also required.
