They have a sensational opportunity for a Web Development Director to run a large e-commerce unit for rapidly expanding and hugely respected brand.
Overall Purpose of Job Role:
The Director of Web Development will be responsible for managing all aspects of a variety of web properties, including the management of the production environment and associated resources, as well as the applications development environment and associated resources. The director will focus on a variety of activities ranging from large enhancements, tactical projects, architectural improvements, and ongoing technical support for updates to the website. Responsibilities include monitoring projects, project prioritisation, and providing the necessary developmental support to team members.The ideal candidate must be able to think fast on their feet, entrepreneurial, creative and willing to adapt to a fast-moving market. Candidates should be comfortable leading teams of skilled developers, hiring and firing, setting budgets, prioritizing tasks, managing multiple projects and work-streams and working with other departments (e.g. marketing, art, game design etc.).

• Management of a large team of developers, designers, and producers
• Coaching, mentoring, and fostering a team environment that supports a highly participative culture
Skills / Experience Required:
• This position requires broad systems development and management experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams by providing coaching, guidance, encouragement, and overall support
• Thorough knowledge of project management, which includes the ability to define and delegate roles and tasks
• Thorough knowledge of application development methodology and system design
• Experience with PHP, MySQL, MSSQL, C# .NET, Linux, and XML
• General knowledge of systems (e.g., various programming languages, database management, system architectures, relational data base theory, structured design approaches, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Good judgment in identifying issues and recommending solutions to others
• Experience working with diverse teams and building strong
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
Qualifications:
• 5-7 years of professional web development experience of which at least 2 years should be at a senior management level
• Deep knowledge of PHP and HTML/DHTML/XML/CSS
• Proficiency with Flash and ActionScript 2.0/3.0 and AJAX
• Sufficient familiarity with SQL to work with a Database Engineer
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification or experience in IT, web development or computer science.
