Role Description
The company is seeking to recruit a Risk & Compliance Director with extensive experience in the payments industry who will:
• Identify and maintain oversight of all key operating and regulatory risks and compliance obligations, put in place appropriate monitoring, mitigation measures and contingency plans

• Establish adequate risk and compliance indicators, monitor developments plus alert management and Board accordingly to ensure no surprises and minimal impact upon inevitable incidents

• Create, monitor and manage operational policies for managing fraud, risk and compliance, and provide guidance on interpretation at board, management, commercial and operational levels

• Take on the formal responsibility for financial regulatory oversight including formal MLRO responsibilities

• Oversee the risk and compliance management activities undertaken in the normal course of operations to ensure that they are fulfilled in accordance with company policy and with legislative and regulatory obligations

• Review risk and compliance implications of existing, planned and proposed company initiatives – including products, partnerships, supplier and customer contracts – and provide advice and solutions for mitigating and managing risk for these initiatives

• Liaise and represent company with regulators, card schemes, industry bodies, partners, suppliers and customers

• Champion/Evangelise risk management internally within the company and with key external stakeholders

The Risk and Compliance Director will report directly to the CEO.
To be the right candidate for this role, you will

• have a high level of knowledge of the card payment system (authorization, clearing and settlement) and the industry; understanding of card data security trends and standards

• have excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

• ability to define, articulate and implement a long term risk strategy with shorter term strategic and tactical initiatives

• demonstrate leadership and inspire others to recognise the importance of effective fraud risk and compliance management

Qualifications and Experience
• have relevant qualifications in Banking and Financial Services

• 8+ years industry experience in the cards and payments sector, with 5+ years in a senior risk and compliance role

• have demonstrable in-depth knowledge of European payment services legislation, card scheme regulations, data protection, and other relevant regulation

• have demonstrable in-depth understanding of practice and typologies of payment fraud, money-laundering, data and identity theft and best practice for managing these risks

Other:
Based in the London office. Able to travel occasionally within Europe.
