Responsibilities

• Work with the team to capture and document requirements, and to define and document processes, to ensure that software supports these where appropriate (should be prepared to challenge whether an IT solution is the best response to a perceived issue or need).

• Produce detailed functional specifications for software suppliers.

• Review detailed technical specifications from software suppliers.

• Support our client’s partners, eg retail partners and their IT suppliers, in understanding and implementing the product in a manner which is efficient, consistent and assures an excellent customer experience.

• Monitor testing carried out on by third parties on systems to ensure that it meets a high standard of quality. Design, review and execute test scripts where necessary.

• Develop processes around the use of third party software products which are integrated to our core software.

• Become a recognised “expert” on software systems and their use, able to impart this knowledge to internal business users, and third party partners.

Skills and Attributes Required

IMPORTANT For this role, our client is looking to appoint someone with demonstrable experience in designing and implementing web services. This should have preferably been gained in the gaming or retail sectors.

A standards-based approach is sought, preferably SOAP, UDDI, WSDL, also WS-Security. Would also consider REST. This experience could be gained as part of a development of software conforming to these standards, or via the implementation of third party software from a recognized vendor in the market eg IBM, Oracle.

• Knowledge of a range of business and systems analysis techniques, and when to apply them.
• Knowledge of and exposure to the full software development project lifecycle.
• Strongly advantageous to have a software development background.
• Advantageous to have experience or interest of working in Gaming industry, or EPOS.
• Preferable knowledge of the workings of on-line retail applications.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent Business Customer & Supplier facing skills
• Methodical with attention to detail
• Team player
• Ability to travel throughout the UK when required
