With the Government expected to announce when the referendum on an 'Alternative Vote' system will take place, William Hill are betting on when the next General Election will take place. 'This referendum seems to have the potential to cause a seismic split in the coalition - which could lead to a General Election' said Hillk's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
With the referendum expected to take place next May, Hills are offering 6/1 that the next General Election will take place in 2011.'Once we know the date of the referendum and the precise question to be asked , we will start betting on the outcome' added Sharpe.
