Sky Bet have revised their next West Ham manager betting following news of the club’s four-strong short-list.
Frontrunner Avram Grant is confirmed to be in the frame, together with Sam Allardyce and Championship play-off rivals Ian Holloway and Dave Jones. Sky Bet make Pompey boss Grant, who has been the subject of sustained support for some weeks, the short-priced favourite at 1/4 to succeed Gianfranco Zola.
Cardiff City’s Dave Jones has been slashed to 8/1 (from 40/1), while Blackpool’s Ian Holloway has been introduced into the betting at 10/1. Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce, who guided Rovers to a top-10 finish this season, is a 12/1 shot.
Last week, several high-profile managers, including Croatia boss Slaven Bilic (6/1) and former Manchester City and Blackburn manager Mark Hughes (10/1), were heavily linked with the Hammers’ vacant hot seat sparking a gamble on both men but it now appears that neither is a serious contender for the job.
Sky Bet’s football betting spokeswoman Helen Jacob said: “Avram Grant has been extremely well backed to fill West Ham’s managerial vacancy, with many punters snapping up the odds against going into FA Cup final last weekend. The gamble on Bilic and Hughes seems set to come to nothing so it would be a fantastic result for the bookies if Holloway or Allardyce is appointed.”
