Sebastian Vettel might not lead the Drivers’ Championship, but he’s been the class act in qualifying this season, and heads Sky Bet’s Spanish Grand Prix betting markets ahead of this weekend’s race in Barcelona.

On a track in which pole position gives a big advantage, Vettel is as short as 7/4 to win on Sunday, and just 11/8 to take pole position for a fourth time in five races.

Sky Bet’s Formula One betting expert Dave Pilgrim explained: “Vettel has been simply unstoppable in qualifying so far this season, so despite many teams offering a whole host of upgrades to their packages, the young German has to be a strong favourite to land pole, and probably the race, this time out”.

Michael Schumacher’s lacklustre start to the season means the German is a 20/1 shot to win in Spain, and as big as 9/2 to stand on the podium for the first time this weekend.

Vettel is 13/2 to complete a race hat-trick, by claiming pole, setting the fastest lap of the race, and reaching the chequered flag first. Lewis Hamilton is 18/1 in the same market, with McLaren among the teams hoping to close the pace gap to Red Bull’s.
