Tony Mowbray has emerged as favourite in Sky Bet’s next Coventry City manager betting. Following news of Chris Coleman’s sacking on Tuesday, Sky Bet installed the former Celtic manager as a 12/1 shot to take over at the Ricoh and he has since been backed down to 4/1, following an influx of bets from the Coventry area.
Sky Bet’s football betting spokeswoman Helen Jacob said: “Judging by the number of bets from the Coventry and Warwickshire area, there must be whispers around the Ricoh that Mowbray is a contender.”
Gary McAllister, who Sky Bet initially installed as 5/2 favourite to succeed Coleman, has been lengthened to 5/1, while Paul Ince (20/1) has also been nibbled at.
Coventry suffered a 4-0 home defeat by Watford on Sunday to finish 19th in the table. Sky Bet make the Sky Blues 6/1 to be relegated to League One next season while it’s 8/1 that they gain promotion to the Premier League and 33/1 that they win the Championship.
