Euro 2008 Champions Spain have been cut to 15/2 by Paddy Power to win the 2010 World Cup.
After waltzing to their first title in 44 years in Vienna last night punters were quick to latch on to the 10/1 on offer for Spain to complete the international football double and driving the odds down.
Spain had been the most backed team on Paddy Power's books before and during the Euro 2008 tournament as punters firmly believed the perennial chokers would finally do it. Fernando Torres' winning goal in the final against Germany saw Paddy Power payout around £1.5million to Spain's backers.
Significant bets included £1000 at 40/1 for a Spain To Win Euro 2008 and David Villa Topscorer Double as well as a £7000 wager at 11/2 for Spain to win Euro 2008.
Paddy Power, said: "Punters were perplexed that a team as exciting and beautiful to watch as Spain could be the same 10/1 price for South Africa as England and were quick to take advantage."
Brazil remain the favourites at 9/2 with another successful team at the Euros, Guss Hiddink's Russia cut from 50/1 to 28/1.
