Sky Bet report a major gamble on Steve McClaren in their next West Ham manager betting this morning and the former England boss is now odds-on to succeed Gianfranco Zola at Upton Park.
McClaren, who is on the verge of clinching the Eredivisie title with FC Twente, is rumoured to be keen to return to England and has been backed down to 4/6 from 11/4 following a flurry of support today.
Sky Bet’s football betting spokeswoman Helen Jacob said: “We’ve taken a good number of three-figure bets in quick succession on McClaren for the West Ham job today amounting to a substantial gamble, which would suggest that Zola is out and McClaren in.”
Avram Grant has also been touted as a possible successor to Zola and is an 8/1 chance in the next West Ham manager betting, while former frontrunner Glenn Hoddle has been lengthened to 3/1 (from 5/6) for the job.
