Sky Bet make Wayne Rooney’s odds of retaining his PFA Players’ Player of the Year title next year a 3/1 chance after he beat Didier Drogba, Cesc Fabregas and Carlos Tevez to this season’s top footballing honour.

Fernando Torres is Sky Bet’s 8/1 second favourite to be voted 2010/11’s top player by his peers, with Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, Cesc Fabregas and Frank Lampard next in the betting at 10/1.

Rooney picked up a groin injury earlier in the week but at Sunday’s ceremony he insisted not only that he will be fit for the World Cup but also that he is hoping to play in United’s final game of the campaign. Sky Bet make him 4/7 to feature against Stoke on Sunday 9th May (5/4 not to play).

The Red Devils’ star striker has scored 26 goals in 30 Premier League appearances this term and is 4/1 to be the league’s top marksman in 2010/11.
