'Competition was already fierce for that place on the right and it was by no means a certainty that Beckham would have gone, even though he was a 1/6 chance to do so, but there are several players who, if they stay fit, could yet have every chance of forcing their way into the squad.' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
