Phil Taylor’s odds of remaining unbeaten in this season’s Whyte and Mackay Premier League are just 6/4 after he powered past old rival Raymond van Barneveld in Exeter on Thursday to maintain his 100% record.

It’s 1/2 that Taylor suffers at least one defeat in his sixth Premier League campaign.

Taylor is now 1/4 favourite against the field (11/4) but Mervyn King is keeping the pressure on ‘The Power’ with three wins out of four and has been cut to 8/1 (from 10/1) to go one better than last year and claim his first Premier League title.

Taylor and King meet in a mouth-watering, top-of-the-table clash next week in Manchester and Sky Bet make Taylor 2/5 to preserve his 100% record, with King available at 7/2 and the draw a 9/2 chance.

Sky Bet’s darts betting expert Craig Ibbotson said: “Taylor has not yet hit form despite winning all four of his matches so far and certainly the form man is Mervyn King. I would not be surprised to see the match of the tournament in Manchester next week and a draw could certainly be on the cards.”

Reigning champion James Wade ended his run of three straight defeats to pick up a point against Adrian Lewis but is a 5/6 chance (1/3 pre-tournament) to qualify for the play-offs, while out-of-sorts Barney is 13/8 (4/7 pre-tournament) for a play-off berth.
