Portsmouth have reportedly asked the Premier League if they can sell players outside the transfer window and Sky Bet go 7/2 that the football authorities take the unprecedented step of giving the go-ahead to the financially stricken club.

Both the Premier League and Fifa would have to approve the idea and Sky Bet go 1/6 that Pompey’s petition is rejected.

Sky Bet’s football betting spokesman Dale Tempest said: “This would be an unprecedented move by the football authorities but given that no Premier League club has ever gone into liquidation, it’s hard to predict what twists the Portsmouth saga may yet take.”
