Fabio Capello is set for crunch talks with John Terry today after the Chelsea skipper finishes training and Sky Bet make Terry’s odds of retaining the England captaincy for their forthcoming match against African Cup of Nations champions Egypt on March 3 a 2/5 chance.

The England centre-back has declined to make any comment on the situation until he has met with Capello and is 7/4 to be sacked as skipper.

Sky Bet are offering odds on who will lead England into their World Cup opener against the USA and Steven Gerrard’s odds of taking over as captain are 5/2, while Wayne Rooney is a 6/1 shot.

Sky Bet’s football betting spokeswoman Helen Jacob said: ”The press and the footballing world are split on whether Terry should stay or go but our customers seem a good deal more convinced that Terry will retain the captaincy and we’ve taken three times as much money on him to keep the armband than to lose it.”
