Carling Cup hero Wayne Rooney netted his 21st goal of the season in injury time at Old Trafford to send Manchester United through to the final and Sky Bet have cut Rooney’s odds of being named PFA Players’ Player of the Year to 7/4 (from 5/2). He has also been cut to 10/1 (from 16/1) to be voted Fifa World Player of the Year.
United’s in-form striker has scored 19 league goals so far this term and Rooney’s odds of scoring 30 or more this season are 9/4.
Manchester United are Sky Bet’s 2/5 favourites to win next month’s Carling Cup final against Aston Villa (7/4).
Sky Bet’s football betting expert Dale Tempest said: “Rooney is in the form of his life. All England fans must be just hoping he can take it onto South Africa this summer.”
