Sky Bet go 9/2 that Mick McCarthy is rapped by the FA for fielding a weakened side against Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

The Wolves boss is 1/8 to avoid being charged after his controversial team selection sparked widespread criticism.

Sky Bet’s football betting spokesman Dale Tempest said: “We’re used to seeing players rested but never a complete team before. Whilst McCarthy will rightly receive short-term criticism, if Wolves survive their first year in the top flight, he will be hailed a hero.”

McCarthy’s decision to field a second-string side enraged the club’s supporters and Sky Bet have slashed the odds of McCarthy being the next casualty of the Premier League sack race to 8/1 (from 12/1) and make it 8/13 that he lasts the season at the Molineux.

McCarthy made 10 changes from the side that beat Spurs last weekend at White Hart Lane, which resulted in an emphatic 3-0 defeat to the titleholders.

10 first team players were rested ahead of Wolves’ match against relegation rivals Burnley on Sunday and Sky Bet make McCarthy’s men even money favourites to win the six-pointer.
