Sir Alex Ferguson will preside over his 900th league match in charge of Manchester United on Tuesday as they aim for a win over Wolves to go joint top of the table.
2009 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Ryan Giggs has said that he expects to leave Manchester United long before Sir Alex and Sky Bet offer 6/1 that Fergie is still in charge of the Red Devils in five years’ time.
Sky Bet’s football betting spokesman Dale Tempest said: “Sir Alex still seems to have the hunger and desire to keep United at the top so predicting when he’ll eventually step down is very difficult. Ryan Giggs knows him better than anyone and he seems to think he can go on for many years to come.”
Sky Bet are offering odds on when exactly Fergie gives up the Old Trafford hot seat and go 5/1 that he steps down at the end of this season and 8/1 that he retires between June 2010 and February 2011.
Sky Bet make it most likely at 5/2 that he sees out another two seasons before his tenure at Manchester United ends.
Jose Mourinho is Sky Bet’s 7/2 joint favourite along with Martin O’Neill to succeed Ferguson as manager of Manchester United.
