Mark Hughes is 2/9 to fail to win a trophy at his new club Manchester City reports bookie Paddy Power.

The former Blackburn boss is 11/4 to pick up some major silverware for the blue half of Manchester but with an impatient boss in Thaksin Shinawatra Paddy Power are betting on how much time Hughes is given to work his magic.

Despite City’s best season in years Sven Goran Eriksson lasted only a year and Hughes is 4/1 to last as long as the Swede. But should Shinawatra’s patience wear even thinner it’s 6/1 Hughes is shown the door before the end of 2008. However the City owner could surprise everyone and be in it with Hughes for the long haul and Paddy Power offer 11/4 that Hughes is still Man City boss come July 2011.

Ken Robertson, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “City have clearly got the right man but we’re not convinced Hughes will be given much time before the infamous Shinawatra chop comes down.”
