Simon Lane has announced he is standing down as the finance director for William Hill. Lane, who has been at the bookmaker for four years, will stay on to ensure a smooth transition for his replacement Neil Cooper, the finance director at Bovis Homes. Lane said: 'It feels like we have been in the trenches a bit, exiting from Spain and Italy and dealing with the balance sheet.' William Hill's chief executive, Ralph
Topping, sees the role of the finance director as 'more operational', encouraging Neil Cooper to seek acquisitions.
