Following news that Robin van Persie will be out for up to six weeks after injuring his ankle while on international duty, money has been coming in for Sunderland to beat the Gunners at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Sky Bet have eased Arsenal’s odds to 4/7 (from 1/2), with the odds of the draw contracting to 11/4 (from 100/30) and the Black Cats trimmed to 5/1 (from 6/1) to take all three points.
Sky Bet’s football betting spokeswoman Helen Jacob said: “Sunderland is always a difficult place to go and our customers are lumping on the home side to take advantage of the injury-stricken Gunners.”
The Dutchman’s injury could not have come at a worse time for Arsene Wenger, who is also missing Nicklas Bendtner (groin) and England forward Theo Walcott (knee).
Sky Bet are offering odds on when Arsenal will next be beaten in the Premier League and make Chelsea 2/1 favourites to be next to inflict defeat upon them on November 29, with Liverpool 3/1 second favourites to be next to beat the Gunners on December 13. 5/2 is on offer for Arsenal to remain undefeated in the league between now and Christmas.
