With back-to-back top 10 finishes in the last fortnight, Walker Cup and former amateur star Rickie Fowler has hit the PGA Tour with a bang and Sky Bet are offering odds on how the American rookie will fare on the PGA Tour next year. Fowler is a 2/1 chance with Sky Bet to win an official PGA event in 2010 (4/11 not to win an event) and 12/1 to win two or more.
Fowler’s runner-up finish at the Frys.com Open has earned him enough conditional money to skip right to the final stages of PGA Tour Q-School. This week he will tee it up in Mississippi for the Viking Classic, where he is a 25-1 chance with Sky Bet to land his first PGA victory.
Sky Bet pit Fowler against Frys.com Open winner Troy Matteson in a 72-hole match bet and can’t split the pair, offering 5/6 on Fowler and the same price on Matteson.
John Rhodes, Sky Bet’s golf betting expert, said: “Fowler looks the real deal to me and I fancy him to win on the PGA Tour next year. At only 20 years of age, he's already making waves with endorsements, sponsorships and his Leonardo DiCaprio looks, and his golf game is equally good.”
12/1 is on offer for Fowler to force his way into Corey Pavin’s 2010 Ryder Cup side.
