Following Liverpool’s defeat to Lyon in the Champions League, which saw them go odds against to qualify for the last 16, Sky Bet have slashed their odds of winning the Europa League. The Reds are now 9/1 favourites (from 25/1) to win Europe’s second most prestigious football contest.

Taking into consideration Liverpool’s possible participation in the competition, Sky Bet have now gone 4/1 (from 10/1) for an English club to lift the 2009/10 Europa League trophy.

Sky Bet’s football betting spokeswoman Helen Jacob said: “The last thing Liverpool need is a Europa League campaign to distract them from finishing in the Champions League places this season but that hasn’t stopped customers wanting to back them today to win Europe’s second-tier competition.”

Three British clubs are in action in the Europa League tomorrow and Sky Bet offer enhanced odds of 25/1 for Everton, Fulham and Celtic all to win.
