Following the sensational sacking of Gareth Southgate on Tuesday night, Sky Bet report substantial support for Gordon Strachan in their next Middlesbrough manager betting.
Sky Bet initially installed the former Celtic boss as 1/2 favourite, but have since cut him to 1/3 following a number of three-figure bets within the opening minutes of betting.
Among the other leading contenders are former West Ham manager Alan Curbishley (8/1), Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson (10/1) and two-time Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan (12/1).
Sky Bet’s football betting spokesman, Helen Jacob, said: “Speculation is building that Boro bosses already have someone lined up to succeed Southgate, with strong rumours circulating that Gordon Strachan could be in place imminently and the immediate and substantial support for the Scot does nothing to dispel those rumours.”
