Following news that Yorkshire will not be renewing Matthew Hoggard’s contract, Sky Bet have opened betting on which county will sign him up, installing Derbyshire as 9/1 favourites.
Division Two sides dominate the betting to sign the former England pace bowler and Sky Bet go 10/1 that he joins newly relegated Worcestershire.
Lancashire are the 16/1 outsiders to get Hoggard’s signature for next season.
Sky Bet’s cricket betting spokesman Ben Williams said: “Hoggard is fit and in-form and will not be short of offers. He could be a good asset for the Falcons, and also from a geographical perspective, Derbyshire is not too far for him to move.
“Despite his grave disappointment at being sacked by Yorkshire, it remains unlikely that Hoggard will swap roses and sign for Lancashire.”
