Sky Bet’s Prizefighter betting is hotting up ahead of the eagerly anticipated Prizefighter Heavyweights III on Friday (9pm, Sky Sports 2 and HD2), which features two of the biggest names on the British heavyweight scene. Old foes Danny Williams and Audley Harrison take part in the most talked about Prizefighter series yet and Sky Bet make Williams their 11/10 favourite, with Harrison close behind at 6/5.
Prizefighter is renowned for big upsets but if either of these two are beaten by anyone else it will send shockwaves through the boxing world. Boxing betting specialists Sky Bet make it 1/9 that either Harrison or Williams take the title, while the rest of the field can be backed at 5/1.
The draw has been kind to both the big name fighters and they can only meet in a mouth-watering final and are 8/13 to do just that. Sky Bet make Williams the 8/11 favourite to be victorious over Harrison (evens) in the final.
Both fighters will be going all-out to impress and Williams, who has 31 knockout victories from 41 wins to his name, is 14/1 to win all three fights on the night by knockout. He has been backed down to 12/1 (from 14/1) to win all three of his fights on points.
Harrison, who boasts 17 knockout victories from 23 fights, is a tempting 25/1 with Sky Bet to win all three fights by knockout and has been backed down to 9/1 (from 14/1) to win his three fights on points.
Sky Bet’s boxing betting expert, Scott Springgay, said: “Our customers so far seem to be enthusiastic and confident about Audley’s chances to do well, just as he is. We have seen some big money for Audley Harrison to make the final at 1/3 and he is now a 1/4 chance, although they don’t think he will be knocking many of his opponents out as he has had plenty of support at 14/1 to win three fights on the night all on points.”
37-year-old Harrison has been bullish about winning the eight-man, one-night tournament and feels he is still capable of becoming world champion inside two years, although Sky Bet make him 20/1 to win a global title by 2011.
Whilst a Williams v Harrison final looks on the cards, it may pay to watch out for some of the outsiders in the Prizefighter betting, who have been going under the radar whilst the media concentrate on the ‘big two’.
Scott Gammer, a 9/1 shot with Sky Bet, will fancy his chances if he can win his opening bout against Coleman Barrett. Victory over Barrett would line up a rematch with Danny Williams, who stopped him in the 9th round of a previous fight. On that occasion, the judges’ scorecards showed at the time of the stoppage that they were dead level, so over three rounds Gammer may not be without a chance of making a name for himself on the night.
