After bringing Roger Federer’s five-year reign as US Open champion to an end last night, Juan Martín del Potro is a 10/11 chance with Sky Bet to win another Grand Slam title in 2010.
7/2 is on offer for the Argentine to follow up his triumph at Flushing Meadows with victory at the next Grand Slam- the Australian Open. The 20-year-old is 7/1 to take the 2010 French Open title, 8/1 for Wimbledon next year and 7/2 to defend his US Open title. Sky Bet quote 4/5 that the world number five fails to win any of the four majors next year.
Sky Bet’s Neil Brookes said: “Del Potro's impressive victory in New York saw him beat Federer and Nadal, as well as Murray's conqueror, Cilic. This rounded off an excellent North American hard court season, which saw him lift the trophy in Washington as well as reaching the final in Montreal.
“He's put his marker down now on the tour and he will hope to maintain this kind of consistency into the Slams next year.”
Beaten finalist Roger Federer is 9/4 with Sky Bet to fail to win a Grand Slam title next year. The Swiss master, who won his first French Open title this year and marked his 15th career title with victory at Wimbledon, is 1/3 to win any major in 2010. 5/2 is on offer for Federer to clinch another two Grand Slam titles next year and 100/1 is available for him to win all four.

No, he injured his groin. It leokod pretty severe to me, but I have done absolutely no follow up work to see what the reports are. I will speculate, though, that he won't be able to play the rest of the weekend. What a bummer. I'm not really rooting for one team or the other, but I really do enjoy watching a home crowd get what they want. (If they were showing a crowd of Spaniards in the streets of Madrid cheering, then I would be rallying for Spain!)
