Coral have this morning had to slash the odds on five of Kieren Fallon's seven comeback rides in reaction to thousands of betting shop and online bets from his supporters.
Fallons first two rides, which are also his best chances of success today, have been the best backed over the last half an hour of trading with Coral were forced to cut Rare Malt (2.20 Lingfield) to 5-6 from 11-10 and Roodee King (3.20 Lingfield) in to 11-8 from 13-8.
Arte Viva (7.50 Kempton) was the most notable mover with Coral cutting her price to 10-3 from 6-1 in reaction to some sizeable bets for the newcomer. Diriculous (3.50 Lingfield) was next to be cut from 7-1 in to 5-1 with Bugaku (8.50 Kempton) trimmed to 6-1 from 7-1 by Coral.
We expected Fallons comeback mounts to be popular with the betting public this morning but the level of support has exceeded all our expectations, reported Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.
It is not the volume of single bets on Fallon that concerns us however, it is the fact that there are probably even more multiple bets being placed combining some or all of his mounts. If Fallon has a momentous day and rides several winners it will cost bookmakers millions. If he achieved the improbable and rode all seven winners it would smash all records for being the most costly day in bookmaker history with the payout running into tens of millions of pounds, added Clare.
At the current prices the odds on Kieren Fallon riding all seven winners today are 47,543/1.
