Finjaan

Sponsors Betfred are offering the best odds on every runner in Saturday’s Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock until the race is run, and report Finjaan and Regal Parade as the most heavily backed horses so far.

The duo contested the same Group 2 contest over seven furlongs at Glorious Goodwood, where winner Finjaan was a length-and-a-half ahead of Regal Parade but is 5lb worse off at the weights this time.

Punters clearly feel they will be involved in the finish again as Finjaan has been backed in to 5/1 third favourite from his opening quote of 10s, while Regal Parade opened up at 33s but is now trading at 16/1.

Betfred spokesman Jon Wilde said: “We’ve taken significant money in some of our Scottish shops for Regal Parade, who at Goodwood ran like he would be suited by a return to six furlongs.

“Finjaan is unexposed at the distance and while he may ultimately prove best at seven furlongs, the likely soft ground on Saturday should make this a stiff test for a sprint.

“Kieren Fallon’s mount High Standing is our 7/2 favourite and the money for him has been only steady so far. Henry Candy’s Corrybrough, a 12/1 shot, has also been the subject of interest.”

Betfred will today be opening markets on most other races on Saturday’s card at Haydock, which is sponsored in full by the world’s biggest independent bookmaker.

Betfred Sprint Cup: 7/2 High Standing, 9/2 Fleeting Spirit, 5/1 Finjaan, 8/1 Main Aim, 12/1 Corrybrough, 16/1 J J The Jet Plane, Regal Parade, Triple Aspect, 25/1 Art Connoisseur, Intense Focus, 33/1 Asset, Bushranger, Sayif, 50/1 Al Qasi, 66/1 Equiano, 100/1 Judd Street.
