Sky Bet have cut the odds of Tony Adams being appointed next Barnsley manager to 8/1 (from 16/1) following reports that the former Portsmouth boss is being lined up to take over the Oakwell hot-seat.

Aidy Boothroyd heads the next Barnsley manager betting at 7/2.

Sky Bet’s Richard Browning said: “Boothroyd would seem to be the fans’ choice and is very much a local boy but reports today suggest the board are lining up Adams, who is keen to get back into football management.”

The Tykes are bottom of the Championship, having suffered four defeats in their first five outings and Sky Bet make them 11/10 to be relegated this year (4/6 to stay up). They have taken just one point so far and Sky Bet make them 5/6 to get less than 45 points this season.
