After taking gold at the World Athletics Championships, Phillips Idowu is a 9/1 chance with Sky Bet to break the triple jump world record by the end of the 2012 Olympics.
Jonathan Edwards, who will present Idowu with his medal on Wednesday, holds the world record of 18.29metres, which he set in the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg.
Idowu set a new personal best of 17.73 metres to win Britain's second gold of the World Championships in Berlin and is a 6/5 chance with Sky Bet to jump 18m+ by the end of the 2012 Olympics.
The 30-year-old Londoner can be backed at 100/30 to win Olympic triple jump gold in 2012 and he is 16/1 to follow in Jonathan Edwards footsteps by being named BBC Sports Personality of the year.
Sky Bet’s Craig Ibbotson said: “18.29m is the world record currently held by Jonathan Edwards and is certainly one of the toughest records out there to break. However, if everything is to click into place for Idowu he certainly has the physical attributes and skill to break the record.”
