Yeats becomes Royal Ascot record breaker as bookies lose £20 million
GOLD CUP hero Yeats has cost the bookies more money than any other horse in Royal Ascot history according to Ladbrokes.
The record-breaking horse stormed to a fourth victory in the biggest race of the week - and the bookies reckon he has cost them over £20 million over the years.
David WIlliams of Ladbrokes said: "They'll have to erect a statue to Yeats at Ascot and there's no way we can afford to pay for it! He has once again cost us a fortune.
"No other horse has rewarded punters so much in the history of the Royal meeting. We can only grit our teeth and salute a racing legend."
Yeats was sent off the 6/4 favourite for the Gold Cup on Ladies' Day at Ascot.
