Move over Pop Idol, after three consecutive Thursdays the trilogy of Leadership debates concluded yesterday.  Three candidates put themselves forward for one of the biggest job interviews in the UK, and we at Hyperion have knocked together some interview tips based on the experience of Mr Brown and associates.

1) Make eye contact, Nick Clegg did this successfully in the first debate

2) Be positive and address questioner, but don't fly off on a tangent mentioning irrelevant anecdotes as per David Cameron's "spoke to a black man in Plymouth".

3) Don't be overly negative about colleagues and suppliers, Gordon Brown drew critisim for this in the third debate.

4) Be yourself (perhaps this one doesn't apply to any of the three politicians!).

5) Wear a tie, preferably not a floral monstrosity like the one Sky presenter Adam Boulton wore.

6) Be prepared and in command of facts. Gordon Brown perhaps did better than the other two with his grasp of figures.

7) Lastly try not to get overheard calling the interview panel bigoted!
