Sunderland 7/2 Favourites To Finish 17th

It’s a huge weekend for the foot of the Premier League and Sky Bet are offering odds on which team will just escape relegation by finishing 17th, making Sunderland favourites at 7/2. North east rivals Newcastle are quoted at 4/1 to avoid the drop by the skin of their teeth, with Middlesbrough available at 9/2 to maintain top flight status by the narrowest margin.

Sky Bet are also offering odds on how many points will be needed to escape the drop this season and offer 6/5 for the 17th placed team to accrue over 38.5 points (8/13 under 38.5 points). 6/4 is on offer for any of the north east teams to hit the magical 40-point mark this season.

Sky Bet now offer 11/1 for Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle all to go down this season. 33/1 is quoted for all three to stay up, with 6/4 offered for one of the three to be relegated and 8/13 for two of them to be playing Championship football next season.

After a spirited performance against Manchester United last week, the Black Cats take on relegation rivals Hull on Saturday and are 10/11 to take maximum points (Hull 3/1, draw 5/2). Despite Niall Quinn giving his ‘100%’ backing to Ricky Sbragia this week, the Sunderland boss is Sky Bet’s 11/10 favourite to be the next top flight manager to lose his job. Manchester City’s Mark Hughes is next in the sack race betting at 7/1.
