Adrian Lewis has been cut to 25/1 from 33/1 after hitting eight 180's and cruising through his first round game.
The world number six, who reached the quarter-finals last year, is the worst result in the fieldbook of sponsors Ladbrokes.
Spokesman Robin Hutchison said: "Lewis will cost us over £50,000 if he finally realises his potential and wins the tournament."
Equally impressive was young Dutchman Jelle Klaasen who blew away former world number one Colin Lloyd 3-0.
The Matador was slashed to 66/1 from 100/1 but was still backed off the boards by punters forcing Ladbrokes to go 40/1.
Hutchison added: "Punters were falling over themsleves to back Klaasen after his victory."
Mervyn King is unchanged at 25/1 after he saw off Chinese number one Shi Yongsheng without breaking sweat.
