England suffered their biggest home defeat ever at the hands of South Africa last Saturday when they were thrashed by 36 points and Sky Bet quote 6/1 for Martin Johnson’s misery to be compounded by an even bigger losing margin against New Zealand on Saturday. England, who have not beaten the All Blacks since the summer of 2003, are 11/8 not to score a try, with the All Blacks quoted at 14/1 to win to nil.
Danny Cipriani has been dropped for Saturday’s Test against New Zealand but Sky Bet make him an 8/11 shot to start at fly-half for England’s opening Six Nations match against Italy on February 7 (evens not to start at fly-half against Italy). Toby Flood replaces Cipriani as fly-half and is 5/6 to score under 8.5 points at Twickenham on Saturday.
Since his appointment as England boss, Martin Johnson has led England to a comfortable win against the Pacific Islanders but gone on to suffer a 28-14 loss to Australia and a drubbing at the hands of the Springboks. Sky Bet are offering odds on when Johnson will next get a win and quote 7/1 for a surprise victory over the world’s number one team this weekend and 1/16 for his next win to be over Italy in England’s Six Nations opener. Whatever the outcome of Saturday’s match, Johnson will be looking to put the autumn internationals behind him and prepare for the Six Nations 2009, where Sky Bet quote 6/1 for England to go unbeaten throughout the competition.
