WHO'LL SUCCEED CHANCELLOR DARLING?
With Alastair Darling under pressure as Chancellor, William Hill have opened a book on who will succeed him, and make David Miliband and George Osborne 2/1 joint favourites, and also offer 4/1 Ed Balls; 8/1 Jack Straw; 12/1 James Purnell; 14/1 Yvette Cooper.
'Mr Darling is looking more and more like he is resigned to becoming an ex-Chancellor very shortly and there could well be a change sooner rather than later' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
BROWN TO SURVIVE THE YEAR?
GORDON BROWN is 9/4 to cease to be Prime Minister this year with William Hill, who make him 1/3 to survive until at least 2009. But Hills expect him to depart the job in 2010, making him 10/11 to do so, while he is 5/2 to leave the role in 2009.
Labour are now 11/4 outsiders to win the next General Election with Hills who make the Conservatives hot favourites at 1/4 with the Lib Dems 100/1.
OBAMA FAVOURITE TO WIN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN BOTH 2008 AND 2012
BARACK OBAMA is 4/7 favourite with William Hill to win the Presidential race and beat John McCain, a 5/4 chance - and Hills have already opened their book on the 2012 Elections, making Obama 7/4 to prevail in that year, with McCain a 7/2 chance, Hillary Clinton at 7/1 - and Sarah Palin at 20/1.
