Next week Aspers will open the first of the UK’s new Super Casinos (2005 Act Licences), creating 400 new jobs in an economically deprived area.
In addition to this we have 15 new large and small casinos coming to these shores in the next few years.
If each of these creates a similar level of employment that’s in excess of 5000 new jobs being created directly within the casinos. And that’s without factoring in the ancillary jobs being created outside of the casinos in supporting industries. Casino’s it would appear could be an economic force for good in these difficult financial times.
Aspers is not the only new casino set to open in London in the coming months. The Hippodrome Casino operating under a 68 licence is set to open in April 2012 creating a similar level of jobs.
Genting have just bought the Fox Poker Club and a number of existing operators are seeking to move or re-activate dormant licences in London again creating more employment and opportunity.
It looks like we are in for an exciting and prosperous few years. Casino’s while not recession proof certainly seem to be recession resistant.
