The NFL came to town last weekend with the fifth game to take place in London resulting in a victory for the Chicago Bears over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull within three points. But after a 25-yard field goal by Chicago's Robbie Gould, the Buccaneers’ Quarterback threw an interception with 37 seconds to go to wrap it up for the Bears.
The NFL’s increase profile in the UK has led to a big increase in betting on the sport. Many bookmakers are now offering new deals to get people gambling on the sport more frequently, for example Bet365 offer a bonus of up to 50% on accumulators.
The NFL has seen huge successes in the UK since the inaugural game in 2006 between Miami and the New York Giants. It has been confirmed that there will be at least one game every year until 2016 and there is still a strong possibility that the NFL Commission might increase it to two games a year. With the popularity of American Football in the UK and Europe bigger than ever before, demand for has surpassed all expectations with over half a million people having applied for tickets for the previous games.
