Q3 is in full swing and the Hyperion office is still as busy as ever. Whilst Black Friday and numerous takeover talks have obviously impacted upon recruitment, it’s good that Hyperion’s gaming team are still flat out on various client projects and requirements. Such an impact looks like it will continue throughout the coming months and makes it a difficult period for candidates to move in such a saturated market. Both Black Friday and takeover speculation has immediately frozen any recruitment with several companies, whilst the dissolving of an operator of Extrabet’s size has meant there are not enough positions to accommodate the surplus of candidates now looking for employment. It can be a difficult period for gaming jobseekers, and hopefully things will pick up sooner rather than later.

On Friday afternoon we managed to take the afternoon off to celebrate a successful Q2, with a BBQ in the sunshine and a beer tasting afternoon down in Farringdon. Amongst those tried was an 11% citrus tasting variation called Gemini, and a silky 10% Porter. Some of the guys even put in a late evening casino stint, with a better than usual P&L report coming in on Monday morning. At the weekend I also managed to get a round of Golf in, as well as watch a fair amount of the Open. No-one can really argue that Darren Clarke was a deserving winner and popular one at that. Astonishing to believe that he has never finished in the top 10 of a Major before. It was also good to see a 5/2 punt on Sergio Garcia for top 10 come in thanks to a birdie on the 18th!
