Andy Murray is the subject of early market support for the 2011 BBC Sports Personality of the year Award with Ladbrokes.

The Scot is currently in action at the Australian Open and is yet to drop a set in his progress to the quarter final stage forcing the bookmaker to respond by cutting his price for the award from 5/1 into 7/2.

Murray is the 9/2 third favourite to win the Open behind Nadal at 11/8 and Federer at 7/4.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Murray fans believe he is playing at his best and want to get the value price for the gong now if this is going to be his year.”
