Leading online bookmaker Spreadex has launched its Mobile Sports Betting Platform allowing customers to place sports fixed odds and sports spread bets on their iPhone or other smartphones.
The system means punters can bet on the very latest in-play sports prices wherever they may be, as well as managing their account by depositing cash or withdrawing winnings
Created by Spreadex’s in-house team of developers, the Mobile Sports Betting Platform is not an ‘iPhone app’ as such but a website which has been specifically optimised for use on the iPhone, Android and Symbian^3 operating systems.
To access the platform, users simply have to type www.spreadex.com into their smartphone browser and they will be automatically taken to the optimised site.
Spreadex financial spread betting customers can also view their open financial positions via the platform, but cannot yet open or close trades. The firm’s full Mobile Financial Trading Platform is expected to follow in early 2011.
Spreadex Marketing Communications Manager Andy MacKenzie said: “We sought feedback from sports spread betting and sports fixed odds betting enthusiasts before starting work on the platform and therefore we’ve avoided some of the pitfalls of other mobile sports betting apps currently on the market.
“The result is a slick interface, providing quick access to thousands of sports markets with constantly updating prices, all with the added bonus that punters can choose between sports spread betting or sports fixed odds prices.
“We have been getting extremely positive comments from our customer base and now the focus is on producing a similar platform for our financial spread betting clients.”
As well as being accessible from the iPhone, the platform can be used on the iPod Touch and iPad. For Blackberrys, the site has been optimised to work on the new Blackberry OS6 system currently being used by the Torch 9800 smartphone.
