England & Australia are joint 9/4 favourites with Ladbrokes for the second test. The draw is a more likely outcome according to the bookmaker however and is priced at 11/10.

The series betting also looks finely poised as the two sides both currently both earn 11/8 quotes with the series draw now 7/2 from an opening quote of 9/2.

Andrew Strauss is just 4 career centuries away from breaking the record (22) jointly held by Boycott, Cowdray & Hammond. It’s 20/1 he beats the record in this series, and 6/1 that he draws level. Strauss is also 33/1 to break Hammond’s record of 905 ashes runs.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “England’s thrilling fight back exposed Australia’s bowling and the sides now look evenly matched with the draw a real possibility. Strauss has clearly set his sights on re-writing the record books. ”
