After receiving a positive report from FIFA inspectors, England are 6/4 second favourites with William Hill to win the bid to stage the 2018 World Cup.
Russia are currently 10/11 favourites with Hills, but haven't fared so positively in the reports, while Spain and Portugal's joint bid did well and is 7/2 third favourite, with Holland/Belgium's bid the 50/1 outsiders.
'With rumours and counter-rumours swirling around this has become a very volatile market, but England's positive report will have calmed some of the nerves which seem to have been engulfing their bid team' said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
