Interview Tips
Be On Time:
Your chances of being offered any job opportunity will be vastly reduced if you are not on time for the interview. Please take the time to prepare your journey and always account for any delays to your transport service. In certain instances, being late is unavoidable; when this is the case please ensure that you contact Hyperion immediately to let us know your estimated time of arrival. We will in turn contact the hiring manager on your behalf to explain the situation.
Aiming to be early is a very good way of avoiding being late. This way you can also relax with a cup of coffee beforehand and compose yourself for the interview.
First Impressions:
Always aim to over, rather than under dress, and ensure that you wear a smart business suit unless instructed specifically not to by the recruiter/employer. First impressions are important; looking employable from the outset is something that is easy to accomplish and beneficial to your application.
Remember to offer your employer a firm hand shake and maintain eye contact throughout the interview.
Preparation:
Hyperion will always give you expert preparation regarding the company you are interviewing with and the role that you are applying for. Please take the time to prepare thoroughly before the interview and make sure that you are fully aware of company background, products and brands. The client will expect you to know who they are and what they do; if you have not done the research then you will not be offered the job. It really is that simple.
Hyperion are fully commitment to helping candidates with preparation for interview. We have worked within the online gaming industry for many years, so have an expert knowledge of job roles and company profiles. We are here to help, so please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss your application.
Practice:
Start to think about the kind of questions that will be asked during the interview. What kind of questions will you be asked and how will you go about answering these questions to the best of your ability? It is definitely worthwhile writing down questions and practicing your response to certain situations. Common questions that will be asked during the majority of interviews:
- "What do you know about our company?"
- "What is your understanding of the role?"
- "What qualities can you bring to our business and why do you want to work here?"
Preparing and practicing potential key questions will give you the ability to speak with confidence during the interview.
Communication:
It is important to communicate your passion for the role and your interest in the betting industry but candidates should also recognise the importance of knowing when to listen. Please do not, under any circumstances, speak over your interviewer or raise your voice to put your point across. Be concise when answering questions; always ensure that your responses are relevant and hold value. It is sometimes difficult to know when to expand upon your answers and when to hold back, though this will often come with practice.
The key to successful communication is to adopt the right attitude. Candidates who are passionate, conscientious, keen and willing to learn will be looked upon favourably.
Honesty:
The notion of honesty during interview relates back to ensuring that your CV is accurate and up-to-date. Please be aware of the dates listed on your CV and never claim to have qualifications or experience that are in any way false or inaccurate. Clients require honesty and integrity; those candidates submitting false information during interview will not be offered employment and will subsequently be refused representation through Hyperion in the future.
Conclusions:
Try to remember that the interview process is also a chance for you to assess your potential employer. Be positive, always use the interview experience as an opportunity to sell yourself and put your best foot forward. If you need to discuss interview techniques or requirements, please feel free to contact one of our consultants to arrange a meeting; we are always more than happy to help.
